01 What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to remember your settings between visits, and to gather information about how a site is being used.
This policy also covers similar technologies that store or read information on your device in the same way, such as local storage, pixels and tags. Where we say "cookies" below, we mean all of these.
Cookies set by this website are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company whose service we use — for example Google — are called third-party cookies.
02 How We Use Them
We keep our use of cookies deliberately small. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share what we learn with anyone for their own marketing.
The cookies on this site fall into two groups:
- Strictly Necessary — Needed for the website to function and to remember the cookie choice you made. These do not require your consent, because the site cannot work properly without them.
- Analytics — Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are only set after you give your consent, and they are switched off until you do.
Until you make a choice in our cookie banner, every non-essential cookie stays blocked. If you select "Reject all", no analytics cookies are set at all.
03 The Cookies We Use
Strictly necessary
- nx_cookie_consent (first party, local storage) — Remembers the cookie choice you made so we do not ask you on every page. It stores only your selection and the date you made it, and no information that identifies you. Kept for 6 months, after which we ask again.
Our hosting provider may also set a strictly necessary cookie for security and to keep the site available. These do not identify you and are not used for tracking.
Analytics — only with your consent
We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics. When you allow analytics cookies, Google may set the following on your device:
- _ga (third party, Google) — Distinguishes one visitor from another by storing a randomly generated client ID, so we can tell new visitors from returning ones. Default lifespan 2 years.
- _ga_<container-id> (third party, Google) — Keeps track of the current visit, including when it started and how engaged it was. Default lifespan 2 years.
These lifespans are Google's defaults. Your browser may expire them sooner — for example, Safari and some privacy settings shorten first-party cookies considerably.
We use analytics only to understand how the website is performing in aggregate: which pages are read, how people move through the site, and where they lose interest. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to target advertising.
If we ever add a cookie that is not listed here, we will update this page before it goes live.
04 Your Choices
When you first visit the site, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with three options: accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or open the preferences panel and choose for yourself. Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting.
You can change your mind at any time. Select Cookie Settings in the footer of any page, and the preferences panel will reopen with your current choice shown. Any change takes effect immediately.
We ask again every 6 months, so a decision you made long ago does not bind you indefinitely.
Withdrawing consent stops any further analytics cookies being set. Cookies already stored on your device can be cleared through your browser, as described in the next section.
05 Browser Controls
Separately from the choice you make on this site, your browser gives you its own controls. You can usually view the cookies currently stored, delete some or all of them, and block cookies from being set in future.
These settings are normally found under Settings, then Privacy and security. Each browser words it differently, and the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge explain the exact steps.
Please note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may stop parts of this website from working as intended.
06 Third Parties
The only third party that can set cookies through this website is Google, through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, and only after you have given consent.
Google processes this data on our behalf and for our purposes. Google's own privacy information explains how it handles data collected through these services.
Some pages link out to other websites, such as our social media profiles or WhatsApp. Once you follow a link away from this site, the cookie practices of that other site apply, and we have no control over them. We encourage you to read their policies.
07 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in the law. The latest version will always be available on this page with the updated "Last Revised" date.
If we make a change that affects what you have consented to, we will ask for your consent again rather than relying on the choice you made before.
This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle personal information.
